Spring is here and that means warmer weather, more hours of daylight, and only a few more months to hid any extra pounds packed on during winter underneath layers of clothes. To help guests get ready for summer, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts on Tuesday launched a new approach to nutrition with “Color Your Plate by Sheraton Fitness,” a dining program that makes it easy for travelers to eat healthy on the road.
The new menus are featured at over 400 Sheratons worldwide and are available in restaurants as well as room service, and are designed to add three colors from fruits and vegetables to the plate. Even better – none of the entrees go over 500 calories.
That means if you’re a road warrior and eat out three meals a day, you can no longer blame room service for those extra pounds because the late night menu only featured pizza, pasta, grilled cheese, hamburgers and fries (honestly, when you’re busy working, who can pull away for a meal at a decent hour?!).
The “Color Your Plate” initiative refers guests to a “Nutrition Color Code” which will educate them all the different properties of different colored foods. Yellow foods optimize brain functions, green foods rejuvenate musculature and bone, orange foods support skin and eye health, and so on. No black or blue foods are represented - so if you’re craving licorice and a slushee, head to a nearby 7-11 to get your fix.
