Some days it’s really tough to go to work…and not love every minute of it! One of those days was Oct. 13, when the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel was the center of a star-studded event for a great cause: the Global Down Syndrome Foundation Fashion Show – the single largest annual fundraiser benefitting people with Down syndrome.
More than 1,100 guests attended the annual fashion show, silent auction and dinner along with celebrities such as Quincy Jones, Jamie Foxx, singer-songwriter Natasha Bedingfield, DeOndra Dixon (Jaime Foxx’s sister), Luke Zimmerman (“The Secret Life as an American Teenager”), Virginia Williams (“Fairly Legal”) as well as football legends John Elway and Pat Bowlen, cheerleaders from the Broncos and Nuggets and many more.
The “Be Beautiful, Be Yourself” event encourages children to feel beautiful about themselves despite living with Down syndrome. During the evening, they get to walk the runway like supermodels and are escorted by big name celebrities like Quincy Jones, who is a spokesperson for the Denver-based Global Down Syndrome Foundation. The $1.5 million that was raised goes to the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome, which is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.
