According to a recent Metropoll survey (the largest of its kind in the industry) of more than 2,000 corporate and associate meeting planners throughout the country, Denver ranks as the fifth best convention city in the U.S.
This ranking is the highest Denver has ever achieved in the poll, and is well ahead of its 14th place spot in 2009. High marks were given for logistics, reputation and convention center image, along with good greening policies, outdoor recreation, scenery, friendly residents, clean and attractive spaces, and inexpensive flights into Denver International Airport.
We’re obviously biased, but we’re not surprised by these results. In addition to the points noted above, many hotels – including the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel – are within walking distance to the Denver Convention Center, so wasting time in traffic or commuting long distances is not required (ditto for parking and ground transportation expenses like car rentals, gas and mileage). Plus, given Denver’s proximity to the Rockies and numerous top-notch ski resorts, there’s added incentive to play hooky after a conference and spend a few extra days hitting the slopes.
Meeting planners who need no further convincing that Denver is perfect for their next event will appreciate Starwood’s new website, StarwoodMeetings.com, designed to help with all phases of the meeting planning process. Launched in late February, the new website is the result of an extensive research effort encompassing best practices and customer interviews to determine how best to bridge Starwood’s online resources with on-site services provided by properties.
StarwoodMeetings.com was designed to increase the ease of doing business with Starwood properties, and allows meeting planners to research more than 1,000 hotels worldwide – including the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel. Features include detailed information on each property, photos and floor plans. Meeting planners can also review meeting services (like our 135,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space along with nearly 50 meeting rooms and an on-site audiovisual department), special offers and other signature Starwood services such as Starwood Preferred Planner, Starwood Convention Collection, On-Site Specialty Events and sustainability and social responsibility initiatives.
So the next time you’re wondering where to hold your next meeting, why not consider the largest hotel in Colorado right in the heart of the Mile High City? Coupled with the offerings at the Denver Convention Center, the Sheraton Denver Downtown hotel is the perfect choice for meetings and events of any size.
