Denver Ranked Among Top Convention Cities in the Nation

According to a recent Metropoll survey (the largest of its kind in the industry) of more than 2,000 corporate and associate meeting planners throughout the country, Denver ranks as the fifth best convention city in the U.S.

This ranking is the highest Denver has ever achieved in the poll, and is well ahead of its 14th place spot in 2009. High marks were given for logistics, reputation and convention center image, along with good greening policies, outdoor recreation, scenery, friendly residents, clean and attractive spaces, and inexpensive flights into Denver International Airport.

We’re obviously biased, but we’re not surprised by these results. In addition to the points noted above, many hotels – including the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel – are within walking distance to the Denver Convention Center, so wasting time in traffic or commuting long distances is not required (ditto for parking and ground transportation expenses like car rentals, gas and mileage). Plus, given Denver’s proximity to the Rockies and numerous top-notch ski resorts, there’s added incentive to play hooky after a conference and spend a few extra days hitting the slopes.
