Last week, our parent company – Starwood Hotels and Resorts – launched a new free iPhone, iPod and iPad app that complements the changes we recently made to our Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) program – the richest elite program in the industry for mega travelers and road warriors who travel a ton for business.
The new app (it’s really version 3.0 of the app we launched three years ago) was designed specifically to meet the needs of today’s connected global traveler. “Mobile is a vital part of our business’s future, and it’s fast becoming the preferred way to book travel in both established and emerging markets around the world, such as the United States and China,” said Chris Holdren, Senior Vice President of Starwood Preferred Guest and Digital. “We’ve built the new SPG app to be an all-in-one travel tool that connects our guests with all of the information they need to enhance their experience during their journey with us.”
The app syncs with a user’s SPG account and delivers quick access to a variety of information – when needed, at any point during a journey. Travelers can find nearby hotels and book rooms by preference, connect directly to a hotel’s services before and during a visit, pull up local maps and directions, access customer support worldwide, receive information on special offers, track past and upcoming reservations, and more. There’s also FaceTime integration for customer service – an industry first – along access to social networking channels.
