Hiring great talent is one of the primary reasons we continue to be a leading hotel in downtown Denver. So it goes without saying that we’re thrilled to welcome the three newest associates to our growing team: Meg Dalbey, Sales Manager; Dustin Silks, Director of Restaurants & Bars, and Ferda Durak, Director of Six Sigma.
Meg Dalbey, Sales Manager, recently moved back to her hometown Denver after spending a few years working at the Sheraton Austin Hotel at the famed Capitol (and just steps from the University of Texas – but we won’t hold that against her!). She joined the Starwood family when she moved to Chicago after graduating college at St. Louis University in Missouri; while in Chicago, she spent a few years working for the W Lakeshore & W City Center Hotels. We’re excited that she, her husband, and their two rescue dogs Ruth and Tilly decided to move back home!
Dustin Silks, Director of Venues, graduated with a degree in Broadcast Communications from Oklahoma State University. He spent a few years working for ESPN and Fox Sports South West before changing careers and working with top hospitality brands including the JW Marriott Camelback Inn’s 5 Star/5 Diamond Resort in Scottsdale and the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix. Dustin joined the Starwood family in 2006 and has since worked for the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa as well as the Sheraton Downtown Phoenix Hotel, which won the Sheraton Hotel of the Year for North America Award in 2011. He considers himself fortunate to have the unique opportunity to follow his passions – food and wine – on a daily basis at his new gig. And we’re fortunate to have him on our team, overseeing our restaurants and bars.
Ferda Durak, Director of Six Sigma, began his Starwood journey in 2004 at the Sheraton Antalya in Turkey as the Director of Safety and Security, where he brought a wealth of knowledge and experience from the Turkish Armed Forces. In 2006, Ferda relocated to the United States and joined the St. Regis Resort in Aspen as the Director of Risk Management, and in 2009 he became certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt. Thankfully, he’s always been known as a guy who can “make seemingly impossible situations work” – a quality that serves him (and us!) well in his role as Director of Six Sigma.
Welcome Meg, Dustin and Ferda to the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel!
