  • Through a partnership with Clean the World (www.cleanthe world.org), in roughly one year’s time the Sheraton Denver has recycled unused guest soaps into 17,040 new bars of soap distributed to families in need all over the world.
  • Last summer, the hotel began partnering with the Joint Energy Efficiency Program (JEEP), a government division of Xcel Energy, which provides rebates for green practices.
  • A recent partnership with A1 Organics, a local company out of Eaton, Colo., uses recycled materials from the hotel to build children’s playgrounds and community parks.
  • In 2010, the installation of a $1.3 million tunnel washer the size of a Volkswagon Beetle has reduced water usage by 75 percent annually.
  • A new trash monitoring system on the hotel’s compactors has resulted in reducing pulls by 50 percent, and the hotel is in the process of converting all public spaces to LED lighting at a cost of $1.3 million.
  • The use of local products and beer and wine kegs reduces emissions and product waste
  • Sustainability reports are offered to meeting planners for conferences held at the hotel

Juice cleanses are the latest rage when it comes to healthy “eating,” and hotels are getting in on the action with juice cleanse packages as part of wellness-based vacations.

According to a story on ABCNews.com, these packages are popular among both die-hard cleansers who regularly do them at home as well as travelers looking for something different to try while on vacation. And for those not ready to give up on solid food entirely, some properties offer juicing bars as well to help them ease into the fad.

Would you do a juice cleanse while on vacation? Why or why not?
