Mark Major - Director of Catering and Event Management

CCS Mark Major

Born and raised in the beautiful islands of the Bahamas, Mark spent time attending schools in three countries before starting his career in the hospitality industry.  Keeping with the traveling theme, Mark enjoyed working in Mississippi, Texas, Georgia, the Bahamas, and Florida before settling down in Colorado.  Having experience with Starwood for 10 years Mark has worked in Island resorts, Urban resorts as well as city hotels giving him the experience to lead his team, an extension of his 3 children and lovely wife.

 
Kristin Reinhart - Associate Director of Catering and Event Management
CCS Kristin Reinhart Kristin is a proud mother of two beautiful girls and a 2nd generation Colorado native where she graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver with a degree in Business Management. She began her career in the hospitality industry as the assistant to the Owner and Developer of The Westin Westminster. Shortly before the hotel opened, she was promoted to Catering Sales Manager where she handled more than 100 weddings in the first two years it was open. Although she had a love for weddings, it was time to gain new experiences so she transferred to a Conference Service Manager where she serviced groups of all sizes and types from corporate to professional football teams.

Shortly after making a move back to Catering, Kristin joined the team at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel and has been a part of many high profile groups including an event over the Democratic National Convention with Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi and most recently a visit from Vice President Joe Biden and Tony Bennett. She has a true passion for seeing events run flawlessly and building client relationships.
 
Steven Alderson - Meeting and Event Manager
CCS Steven Alderson

Steven considers himself a Colorado semi-native as this is where his military family finally settled in his formative years. After graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Music Performance, Steven hit both coasts before returning to the Mile High City where he worked as an actor and singer for years.

Coming from a background in many areas of the service industry, it was only natural for Steven to gravitate to Meeting & Event management. His journey at this property began during the Adam's Mark days as a singing waiter, transitioning into an Executive Meeting Specialist when becoming an employee of Sheraton Denver Downtown, then working during the $70M renovation as one of the trio representing the hotels interests inspecting quite literally every room in the hotel and then as a supervisor in the Engineering department. Steven is glad to be able to bring not only years of experience in service but a vast knowledge of this hotel into helping meeting planners and groups coming here to have the most successful time possible.

 
Soulaiman Bahalla - Meeting and Event Manager
CCS Soulaiman Bahalla

Born and raised in Morocco, Soulaiman attended the University of Mohamed 5th and received a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics & the Study of Languages. While completing his degree, Soulaiman worked for the British Embassy as an Administrative Assistant, a translator and a student coordinator. His experience with the embassy enabled him to travel to Europe supervising groups of students for Intensive Summer Language Schools.

Soulaiman migrated to the United States in 1999 and started his career in Hospitality at the Flamingo Hilton Reno, continued his hospitality journey with the Atlantis Casino Resort & Spa before moving to Portland where he embarked on his Meeting and Event management experience. In 2005, Soulaiman moved to Dubai where he taught English for a year before moving to Denver.

When he has some downtime, Soulaiman enjoys fishing in the mountains and spending time with his friends.

 
Gloria Crawford, CMP - Meeting and Event Manager
CCS Gloria Crawford As a graduate of Michigan State’s The School of Hospitality Business, Gloria moved to the Big Apple and joined the Team at The Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers, where she held positions in Sales and Meeting and Event Management. Leaving the big city behind, she moved to the Mile High City as a Meeting and Event Manager for the Westin Tabor Center, Denver, where Gloria is proud to have managed events for Obama for America during the 2008 Democratic National Convention as well as the Boston Red Sox during their 2007 World Series win. Gloria has been a part of the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel Meeting and Event Management team for over threeyears, and she looks forward to working with you on a successful event.

On her days off, Gloria enjoys spending time with her family and enjoying beautiful Colorado.
 
Danielle Dirks - Meeting and Event Manager
CCS Danielle Dirks

Danielle graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Hospitality Management and began her journey in the Starwood family at The Westin and Sheraton Complex, downtown Kansas City. Her ambition for an outstanding client experience encouraged her position as a Conference Planning Manager. Now at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel as a Meeting and Event Manager, Danielle continues to focus and drive supporting her groups in their efforts to promote successful events. Danielle’s childhood dream of living in Denver has grown her love for the backdrop Colorado offers her everyday life.  

In her free time she can be found jogging trails with her dog, Chloe, and tasting all Denver has to offer at the local restaurants. Cheers and go Kansas State Wildcats!

Laura Gustafson, CMP - Catering Sales Manager

As a glorified native of Colorado, Laura has always claimed Denver as her home even though her family roots reflect the red color of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. She graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Restaurant/Resort Management.

Right out of college she started as an assistant to the Director of Catering at the Adam’s Mark Hotel, working with clients such as Children’s Hospital Foundation, Susan G. Komen and the Latin American Educational Foundation. These experiences caused her to fall in love with all the event side of this business, from the initial detail stage to the final execution of an event. After a year, she was promoted to a Catering Manager with Adam’s Mark and then became a great member of our team today as a part of the Sheraton family. She is driven by her great client relationships and by continually meeting new people along the way, winning them over with her joyful personality and ease in planning an event.

 Julia Lane - Catering Sales Manager

CCS Julia Lane

Julia grew up in a small town on the Western Slope of Colorado.  She has spent over 20 years in the hospitality industry, from owning her own restaurants to being part of the catering team at the Westin Westminster Hotel near Boulder. Whether she’s planning a gala, a wedding, or a small meeting,  Julia is able to think "outside the box" and it’s these ideas, combined with her professional and outgoing personality, that allow her the opportunity to market and create new opportunities. Julia is the Mom of two fabulous children and enjoys spending her free time enjoying Colorado’s great outdoors!

 Asuvini Vengadasalam - Meeting and Event Manager

CCS Asuvini Vengadasalam

Asuvini is the most recent team member to the Meeting & Event Management. Team but has been a team member of the Sheraton Denver Downtown family for the last 5 years. Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and raised in Miami, Asuvini had an instant passion for the hospitality industry. She attended the University of Florida and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Hospitality Management with a minor in Business.

Asuvini’s journey after graduating began with the Adam’s Mark Hotel as a Business Travel Assistant then moved on to become a Group Sales Assistant with the Sheraton Denver Downtown. She was later promoted as the Assistant to The Director of Sales & Marketing. From there, her love for meetings and events became apparent as she started to handle small groups and has now transitioned to a Meeting & Event Manager.

On her days off, Asuvini enjoys exploring Denver’s array of restaurants and cheering on the Florida Gators!
